[Wine Beta 1.7.26]-Valve Steam Client For Windows...

Hi,

Still have problems with current Wine Beta 1.7.26
and Valve's Steam client for Windows
on Kubuntu 14.04 L.T.S. 64Bit.

There is no text which is fixed by adding: "-no-dwrite" to the launch command.
Will this ever be fixed?

What do you need fixed? I mean if the text appears after a small bug fix, Is there anything else that's broken? My version doesn't let me use the steam overlay in game. Or Alt+Tab. But I think that's everyone else as well.

Hi,

There have been these known issues with Windows version of Steam for years.
I don't understand why they can't be fixed?

Perhaps with release of Linux version of Steam the Wine devs don't think it's important anymore.

DirectWrite support is a new feature that is not yet complete, and therefore doesn't yet work for apps that try to use it. It is being worked on; there were patches for DirectWrite functions committed in 1.7.24, 1.7.25, and 1.7.26.

When the Steam update last December completely broke Steam in Wine, it was fixed in one day.

I don't think they'll have given up on it. These aren't exactly glaring bugs. Small bug fixes can make it better. I myself can get along without using the overlay. It's a small inconvenience but not really big. Many people rely on steam via wine. Like when you're playing CS:GO or anything else. It's a very useful platform. There are bugs that can't be fixed, By the way. I don't know how hard the devs have been trying.
