foget wine for dummies, i need wine for complete idiots

i have theoretically installed wine in linux mint, but it doesn't allow me to do anything with it except show me the folders in the file. i have not been able to install any windows applications nor have i been abel to run anything. please help.

i am missing something completely, because even following the steps in the faq, i am unable to use any windows applications even though they are rated as being gold or platinum as far as operation with wine.

Which steps did you follow, and what exactly do you mean by "use"? "Use" implies you installed them in Wine. Did you?

no idea about how to install in wine. i try to follow the steps, but i keep missing it somehow

I assume you downloaded the source code and don't know how to compile it?
Or did you go to terminal and type; sudo apt-get wine?
