Update 1.7.20 problem

My Wine 1.2.3 wants to update to 1.7.2, but while downloading it says:

"update not properly signed".

I then downloaded manually 1.7.2 but are not able to install manually from downloaded package; I open "Wine-1.7.20/tools/wineinstall" like it says in the instructions,
and Terminal gives the message:

"You're running this from the wrong directory. Change to the Wine source's main directory and try again."

but I think that's what I'm doing.
I'm not good enough at this to figure out a solution myself...
Am I mistaken here and overlooking something obvious?

I don't know what's trying to update, but it's not plain Wine, because plain Wine will not try to update itself. You must be using some third party wrapper; ask for help from whomever you got it.
