The Spore Game ALMOST work...

Alright.. so.. it seems the newly released game, spore, almost works with wine.. with a few exceptions.. there is some graphical errors that apparently seems to be able to be fixed.

I found a place on the internet where a guy have posted a blog entry on how to make it working... except.. I cant seem to figure out how to follow that guide.

Can anyone tell me how I in Ubuntu applies that spore.patch file to my working version of wine without screwing anything up..

You cannot apply a patch to a "working version of wine." You have to download the Wine source, apply the patch, and compile it yourself--just like it says in the instructions you linked to.

I've tried to follow that guide.. but it doesn't seem to apply properly for an Ubuntu user... and I'm by no means an experienced or clever Linux nor Ubuntu user, and when things involve compiling stuff and so on.. I'm completely lost.

Is there anyone who can translate that guide into an Ubuntu step-by-step guide that even a 4 year old could follow?

or you could wait for the next release of wine which hopefully would be already patched up for spores?
