Rootsmagic 6 GDI+

Hi,

I am trying to run Rootsmagic 6 on my mac (os x 10.7.5) via wineskin with installed engine ws9wine1.7.17. But I get an error returned "Invalid operation in GDI+ (Code: 1)". I have tried using Winetricks to install Gdiplus.dll but it appears to be attempting to download/install 537M of data. As I only have a modem connection to the internet it is virtually impossible to achieve. Is there anybody out there who can help?

I found instructions on how to install an older GDI+ in crossover WINE.
Here is an updated version that is not crossover specific:

1. Download the GDI+ redistributable from Download Platform SDK Redistributable: GDI+ (download is 853Kb).
2. Place the self-extracting executable in the root directory of the C drive in your wine prefix where RootsMagic is installed and launch the self-extracting executable with WINE.

   the winzip self-extractor GUI will appear after after you acknowledge the EULA ; change the path to C:\windows\system32 and click 'unzip'- now close the self extractor

3. Launch winecfg, open Library tab and add a DLL override for gdiplus.dll to "native".
4. Launch RootsMagic and see what happens.

What happened? - It worked! That's what happened.

Your instructions worked very well. I now have a fully operational RootsMagic6 on my Mac.

I am one happy amateur genealogist.
