The best out of wine

Post by 1Mono »

Hello :D
...Wine is really one very important thing about Linux. I really wish it'd run everything.

When we want to run windows stuff with wine, usually there are extra stuff to be added to wine so that it'd work.
Is there some way to "install every possible thing" such that we don't have to do that any more?

For example I got an idea of installing everything in winetricks. Will that, for example, help? Also some one told me once about sth related to that closed source dlls must be installed separately. How can I install all of those? ...I'm talking about stuff like that. I'm talking about ANYTHING that'd make wine "run more stuff". ...I hope you realise I'm not a professional.

Oh and before you say it. I know wine still doesn't run everything and I know that my question might not be "specific enough" but I just want to get as close as possible to "running anything", just as close as possible.

...Thanks in advance :D

No. What it is likely to do is break some apps that would work perfectly fine without native dlls. Only install the dlls that are needed by the specific apps you want to run.
