Office 2003 does not save files on NTFS partitions?

Hi
Thank you for reading my post.
I have a problem, I installed latest version of wine (1.1.3) and office 2003, the problem is that Office does not save any document which resides in NTFS partitions while those partitions are mounted as read-write partitions.

I use Ubuntu 8.04, and it would be a great help if someone can help me resolve this problem.

Wine, as far as I know, can only see UNIX/Linux type partitions. Is there a particular reason you need to directly write to the NTFS partition rather than write to the UNIX/Linux partition and then move the file over to the NTFS partition using copy/move commands.

If that were true, we wouldn't have to be constantly telling people not to run programs from their Windows partitions.
