Wine on Intel Atom Smartphones?

Post by ycavan »

I wonder if the Intel Atom smartphones wouldn't be an easier target for Wine since Wine makes use of X?

1. They're Intel Atom processors, so the same processor family
2. There's a free & fast XServer ( XServer-XSDL ) https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... rver&hl=en
3. Android is a flavor of Linux & can be chroot'd pretty easily

My hope is for inexpensive devices like the ASUS Padfone Mini w/ 7" tablet dock to become portable devices w/ Office capability

I think theres a video out there of someone chrooting into ubuntu using busybox on an xt890. That might be a start for where to look. Hopefully x86 smartphones catch on. Though a lot of comsumer media is being produced for arm devices now. If arm based devices gobble up too much marketshare, x86 powered phones might never be successful. Unfortunately most consumers probably don't care about having an x86 phone but just having the apps they want running right out of the box :/
