Some kind of accents are not working

Post by c_inconnu »

Hi,

I'm running PlayOnLinux 4.2.1 on Ubuntu 13.10. I installed Office 2010 and try to solve my problem with several 32 bits Wine versions : 1.7.11 and 1.5.31. I have another computer PlayOnLinux 4.2.2 on Ubuntu 12.04 and Wine 1.7.11 and there is no problem. And I'm using a french keyboard (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... ty.svg.png).

Before installing another PPA to get the latest version (4.2.2), here is my problem. In every Office application and in the windows terminal :
  • special characters with accent which have their own key, ie. é (under 2) or è (under 7) are displayed correctly;
  • special characters with accent which don't have their own key, ie. ê (first ^ next to P then e) or ë (first shift+^ next to P then e) are not working at all (nothing displayed);
One weird thing is that these sequences are working in the options dialog (File > Options/Settings).

Thanks for any help, this is driving me crazy!!!

POL is not supported here; their script for installing Office adds unnecessary overrides. Reinstall in plain Wine following the instructions in the AppDB. When you run Office apps, make sure you start them with the correct locale and are not using iBus, which is known to cause problems.
