So I have wine 1.6.2 running on my mid 2010 mbp. I initially used macports to set it up. I would like to update to a patched version of 1.7.1 that claims to potentially fix a problem I have been having with one of my games (gl out of memory error). I found a tar.gz file that has the patched version and I want to install it to see if it works.
1.) can I install it through macports?
2.) do I have to uninstall my current version or can I update it with the tar.gz file?
2a.) if I uninstall will it get rid of all of my games and files so that I have to redo everything?
3.) If I can't install/update this through macports, what is the best way to install it?
