Three Questions (WPF support + two complicated)

Post by Rabcor »

Is WPF support a planned feature? There are some programs (like articy: draft) i'd like to run via WINE but can't because WINE doesn't support WPF yet.

Why does WINE so commonly only support specific versions of software?

Why do programs that do run pretty well through WINE so often have certain (usually small) features bugged or missing if run through WINE?
For example when i tried to play EverQuest i couldn't connect to the servers, when i used notepad++ like a year ago, some tiny feature like closing or saving multiple tabs would crash it but otherwise it worked fine (i don't remember the exact thing that caused the crash at the time).

or for another example, in steam fonts don't render unless you use a special option, in WoW maximizing the game in windowed mode will apparently crash it, etc.

Why do so small bugs happen all the time?

AFAIK, no. http://www.mono-project.com/WPF

I have no idea what you mean here. The goal of Wine is for all Windows apps to run, and if a specific version doesn't, that would be a bug.

Well for an example of what i mean look at this stability between versions goes from bronze all the way up to platinum depending on which version of the program(game) you try to run.

Those ratings are based on test reports submitted by users. The reports vary not only in the version of the app tested, but also in the version of Wine tested, the system (hardware and distro) on which they were tested, and the experience of the user. All of those things factor into the results.
