Hello,I use Ubuntu 12.04 and I have a few games that I like and they all work well OFFLINE under Wine but online is laggy,I also use GameRanger and also in GameRanger games are a little slow.I have a wired connection,no proxy or router, but still slow connection under wine.I usually play FIFA 08
I wonder if there are any tweaks for Ubuntu,Wine to make ,in order to improve the multiplayer experience? It s especially slow under GameRanger.
wine internet connection
Re: wine internet connection
Little word of advice state "wine --version" or expect to be put to back of que for answer.
If you are not using wine 1.6 or newer we will not be that interested.
Also we need wine log as described how in the FAQ in the wiki that people don't read. Yes there are tweaks some issues tweaks will not solve because it lack of support of particular things stuffing the games up.

Re: wine internet connection
Well ok,my wine version is 1.7.8,I don t know how to post a log or to extract a log for wine.
Game Ranger shows that my ping is really bad (it shows green lines according to how good the ping is and I got no green line with any connection).I play FIFA 08 and it works great when I play offline or even online with "the direct ip option" in FIFA-multiplayer,but when I play with Game Ranger it s really laggy.
My connection is wired with no router or modem, just plug the cable directly to the pc and it works good.Maybe some settings to change in order for Game Ranger to get a better connection?
