Action Replay Update for 3DS

Post by Natashaielle »

Hello, I'm (very) new to all of this. I'm running Mac OS 10.8.4 and just installed Wine from a very helpful tutorial I found off of Google, and have managed to install and successfully run the software to update my Action Replay DSi from the Datel customer support website. However, when I run the software, it fails to recognize that the device is connected and continues to prompt me to connect it. But my System Profiler recognizes that the device is connected (USB 3.0) and amidst my installation of the Updater and the Code Manager software (also from Datel) I was prompted by the installer that all necessary drivers had been installed. I'm also getting this feedback from the Terminal when I run the application in Wine:

fixme:win:RegisterDeviceNotificationW (hwnd=0x10056, filter=0x32f2fc,flags=0x00000000) returns a fake device notification handle!

I've attached a screenshot of the Terminal, app, and System Profiler windows as well.
If anyone could help me that would be great! Again, sorry if I haven't included the necessary information or have formatted something wrong. I'm a complete amateur at this sort of thing.

Hi,

wine can deal with USB mass storage devices like USB sticks and drives, USB mice and joysticks are working, if recognized and supported by linux/MacOSX. Wine doesn't support USB (and other) devices that need hardware drivers installed. Afaiu you want to connect your device to a PC to update its drivers or similar, which falls in that category, afaict you need a Windows hardware driver installed to do such updates.

You may need to do your updates via real Windows, dual-boot or install Windows XP in a VM like VMWare or virtualbox.

Thanks. I tried installing a Device Manager-esque program to try and update the drivers properly, but it won't recognize that either...and unfortunately I don't have a PC, so I can't use that to work around the problem. I've got a friend who has the software, so I'll probably just end up borrowing their computer to update the AR. Thanks anyways thought, really appreciate it :D
