forcing FSAA on an old game, using an old ATI GPU

Post by Ashboy »

With old I mean System Shock 2, which obviously doesn't have FSAA as an application setting. I wonder simply wonder if it's possible to do the same thing you can do in Windows and 'force' an application to display FSAA of any kind, even if it isn't an applications setting.

One problem: I use and old ATI mobile x1250 GPU. System Shock runs okay on it as long as I don't increase the resolution beyond 640x480. Driver support from ATI for legacy hardware is outrageously non existent and whatever driver any linux uses for it absoletely terrible. Yet.. yet.. yet.. I have no reason to believe it cannot do FSAA. If it can, perhaps there will be no performance impact since it's already quite performing at minimum performance, and my 640x480 will look a little better. Or there will be an impact and it will kill fps. I don't know. Either way, I want to find out. :)

So, is it possible to enable/force FSAA with an old Ati card in an old game?
