I have a weird issue...
2 days ago I installed Icewind Dale 2. It somewhat run. Yesterday, out of the blue it started to refuse to run and whenever I execute it, I get an error:
"Not enough free disk space to continue, shutting down". I have a ton of free space in every place it could possible access.
Tired of the problem, I decided to install Icewind Dale 1. The same problem. I have a suspicion that it would be the same with other Infinity Engine games, that something ticked and broke them.
Searching the net I found no solution...there have been others with a similar problems in different context; they don't seem helpful, but I'll list them for the reference:

I'm running wine-1.5.22 on PC-BSD 9.1 AMD64.
Any suggestions how to fix or how to debug the problem?

Re: Icewind Dale - not enough free space
The links you provided indicate, that the game engine might have issues with "too big" partitions, this seems to happen on Windows, too. You could try to create a wine prefix (folder that contains your wine applications & wine config) using a smaller partition or another smaller hard disk/usb disk, then install the game there again. For dealing with wine prefixes, see
