I'm using Wine 1.5.20, and trying to install LabVIEW 2012 (I have to use the WIndows version of LabVIEW because it also needs FRC updates, if anyone cares about why).
When you install LabVIEW, there are essentially 2 window installer wizards at a time: one that is keeping track of how many products you've already installed (out of 10 products), and the other is showing progress for the installation of the current product being installed.
As far as I know, you can't choose to install each product individually to manually avoid the problem.
So anyways, every time a new product opens its own Windows installer wizard, an error comes up with the message "Windows installer error: The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. Service already running."
So basically, I wanted to ask if it's possible to enable the operation of 2 different window installers at a time to avoid this issue?
Windows installer error: service already running
Re: Windows installer error: service already running
A possible solution:
If you are installing from a download then download again and save the file rather than running it immediately with wine.
Then, open the file (either from the saved download or open the cd files) and losate the setup.exe file for each product and run them one at a time.
No guarantee that this will work, just an idea

Re: Windows installer error: service already running
It's actually from an official LabVIEW disc, and as I said before, there is absolutely no option to install each component manually in the disc.
Re: Windows installer error: service already running
I can well believe that there is not an option provided to install the products seperately.
But, if you open the disc you will probably find a file called something like setup.exe this will be the one that runs first and it would install the products one after another automatically. It will also create its own installer wizard - the one that says which product is currently being installed.
When you open the disc you should also find a folder for each of the products, if you open each folder you should find that there is another setup.exe file or maybe install.exe (or something similar) this is the one you need to run with wine.
Hopefully that will bring up the installer wizard for that product without the 'overall' installer wizard running.
