winecfg.exe

The program winecfg.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to be closed.
Whenever i tried to run any appliction via wine, a message is displayed. e.g "the program photoscape.exe has encountered a serious problem and need to be closed.
how to deal with it?? i tried to remove and the reinstall wine but it didnt work
can anyone help?? pleeeej

Delete ~/.wine and reinstall your app.

Set your file manager to show hidden files and delete it like you would any other directory.

i'm having .wine instead of ~/.wine..is it will be ok to delete?? n what about c drive in it??

That's the right one; ~ in a path means your home directory. Deleting it will delete everything in it, including any apps you have installed. That's the point--delete the old one, which is messed up to the point where even winecfg crashes, and create a new, clean one. After deleting it just run winecfg and a new ~/.wine should automatically be created. If winecfg still doesn't run on a clean wineprefix, post terminal output.

But i tried to install an application it didnt work
After installing when i tried to open it following message appeared. "The program photoscape.exe has encountered a problem and needs to be closed "

If you uninstall ttf-sil-andika from your system, does it make any difference?

Also, what version of Wine are you using?

How to uninstall it??
i'm using 1.4.1 version..

Use your package manager to uninstall it. If you don't know how to do that, ask on your distro's support forum. It's not a Wine question.

Also try upgrading Wine to the latest development release.
