DOTA 2 Help

Post by shaolin »

Hello Wine Community,
I'm hoping I can find some help with regards to Dota 2 using Wine 1.5.18. I have successfully installed steam and Wine and when attempting to play a game, I'm getting this horrible choppy sound and DOTA 2 will be be extemely laggy and unresponsive.

I have tried researching the problem and I have tried several things but with out any luck.

Below are my hardware specs..which sould be good enough to play Dota 2:

Machine: Dell XPS 400
Pentium D 3.0 Ghz Dual Core
4GB Ram
Nvidia Geforce 7300 LE 512mb
Monitor 1920 x 1080

Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
Nvidia driver 295.40

I currently have the following settings in place within steam/dota 2

-novid -nod3d9ex

I have set the virtual memory in the registry to both 1024 and have switch to 512 with out any improvments

I'm not sure if the problem is being currently being cause by the resolution of the game or something else altogher.

this is how I'm currently calling up the game in the terminal:

WINEPREFIX=~/.wine_dota2/ wine explorer /desktop=dota2,1400x900 "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -applaunch 570&

Its only when the game is about to load that the sound becomes extremly choppy and then the game will also become slow and unresponsive.

PLEASE HELP!!
