Wine Version Numbering Discrepancy

To Whom It May Concern:

There seems to be a version discrepancy in Wine, where later versions do not work with MS Windows based application software, such as AutoCAD Release 13 and 14, doesn't work anymore with later versions of Wine. Why is this?
