Wine died in OS X 10.8.2
Wine died in OS X 10.8.2
anyone else having problem with Mac OS X 10.8.2? Ever since I upgraded... Wine is dead. Command line Wine, Wineskin, even Crossover... anything that tries to go 3D and the whole X server seems to get hosed.... frozen, and never get any graphics on the screen. 2D simple stuff like Winecfg works fine.

Yep. It all seems to be very dead. I wish I knew more on this subject so I could do something. I am a developer, but this is very much not my area of expertise.
Re: Wine died in OS X 10.8.2
as an addition... I've had many many reports from Wineskin users who have this same problem, so its not just me... and I cannot even get Crossover working.
It seems to be a problem when using OpenGL only. If you launch a program that needs OpenGL, it just hangs forever... and if I Ctrl+C it, it'll say... something like this when I tested Neverputt.
err:module:attach_process_dlls "opengl32.dll" failed to initialize, aborting
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L"Z:\\Users\\doh123\\Desktop\\WSXTesting\\Neverball\\neverputt.exe" failed, status c000013a

Re: Wine died in OS X 10.8.2
You should file a bug.
Re: Wine died in OS X 10.8.2
right now I'm not sure if its an OSX bug, or if its a Wine bug...dimesio wrote:You should file a bug.
Wine has worked fine without a problem like this forever, then this 1 update breaks it? They couldn't have overhauled OpenGL enough to break Wine that easy... seems several other pieces of software are having issues as well.
Since Crossover is broken too I know Codeweaver's will be on top of things though

Someone else already started a bug report.. if anyones looking for it its here.

Re: Wine died in OS X 10.8.2
i also can't play wine games with the 10.8.2 update... however, some time ago, i ported freehand mx with WS and it still works.
it should be a osx related problem to xquartz, opengl or something like that...

yeah, Wine works fine until it tries to use OpenGL.vmz75 wrote:i also can't play wine games with the 10.8.2 update... however, some time ago, i ported freehand mx with WS and it still works.

Re: Wine died in OS X 10.8.2
fwiw, we (codeweavers) have a build for os x 10.8.2 and 10.7.5 in:
http://www.codeweavers.com/xfer/duboisj/11.2.2/
(download with key 'crossover')
source is there as well, probably similar to that on the winehq bug.
If that does _not_ work for anyone, we'd love to know.
(the problem is in X, so if you're using plain wine you'll need to replace your X server as stated in the bugzilla bug: it's not a wine patch).

Re: Wine died in OS X 10.8.2
As an update from me too, the bug is NOT in Wine... Wine is fine.
This bug was in xorg
XQuartz 2.7.4 RC1 fixes the problem
If you're using Wineskin, set your wrapper to use XQuartz instead of WineskinX11 and install that version and it should work for now. I'm going to get a patched version of WineskinX11 made today and have a Wineskin 2.5.8 out hopefully later today that works.

Re: Wine died in OS X 10.8.2
Hi there!
I don't know if I'm the first one who report this, but I think there could be a problem/bug with the last Wineskin if used on MacOs 10.8.2.
I'm not sure what's going on, but when I use a program or a game under Wineskin 2.5.8 it starts sucking RAM like crazy and after while my whole free space on HD is used up as virtual RAM.
I'm sure that this was not happening under Wineskin 2.5.6 so...what's going on?

Re: Wine died in OS X 10.8.2
XQuartz just released 2.7.4. Does it address this issue?

Re: Wine died in OS X 10.8.2
I know you posted this over at the Wineskin forum, but your question has absolutely nothing to do with this thread, its completely off topic. XQuartz 2.7.4 does indeed fix the problem originally discussed in this thread.matejiscra wrote:Sorry, I'll do it now. Thanks for the link.doh123 wrote: please report this on the Wineskin forum...
