gw2 installer problem

Post by zaxxo1 »

Hey guys, I know this shouldn't really be posted here, as it is wineskin not wine, but I wasn't getting an answer on the forums over there. I'm trying to download guild wars 2 onto my macbook pro (10.6.8) using wineskin. I created a wrapper, used the -dx9single flag and set the screen options. I right clicked the wrapper, clicked show package contents then clicked on wineskin. I clicked install software and then chose the file 'Gw2setup.exe', from the CD drive. The installation screen loaded, and it downloaded 10145 kb before pausing. The download screen then closed, and reopened, but on reopening, it just crashed after 2 seconds. I then saw a new window saying 'No new executables found! Maybe the installer failed...?
If you tried to install somewhere other than C: drive (drive_c in the wrapper) then you will get this message too. All software must be installed in C: drive.'
I don't think that It's really downloading, as the wrapper file
isn't changing in size, thoughI may be looking in the wrong place.

I really want to play the game, but I just can't, can anyone help me?

Hi zaxxo1,

i did not check this out myself. But it seems that the Installer you want to use is just the Wrapper. Try this one:

http://cloudfront.guildwars2.com/client/Gw2.exe

But be careful, this will save all the Game File in the Directory from where you store and launch this executable. Check the Linux Page in the Guildwars2.com Wiki too:

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Linux

There are not much information yet. I hope the Community will update this.

Edit: This way you have a large download. Is it important for you to use the DVD?
