20-30 FPS on L4D2?
Hey!
I have a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on my AMD machine with the following specs:
AMD Phenom x4 @ 2.8 Ghz
3GB DDR 2 Ram
250GB HDD
XFX GTS 250 1GB
Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
I have installed the latest drivers for my card and they work just fine.
But when I wanna play a game like L4D 2 on Steam I get a fixed FPS of 20 -30. I have tried turning off the FPS limiter and even that didnt do anything and I tried UseGLSL=disabled with no result what so ever. All my settings are on High (This works beautiful under Windows) no VSync and no Anti Aliasing along with dual core rendering enabled.
My res is 1920 x 1080.
Anything I can do to speed it up?
Thanks!

If you are using wine 1.5.8 or 1.5.9 from the ubuntu wine ppa, this is a known issue (a near infinite loop in the sound patch maintained by ubuntu).
This does not appear on wine bugzilla because it is an ubuntu only bug.
This bug is fixed new version wine1.5 - 1.5.9-0ubuntu2~pulse19+build1 you just have to update wine.
Try this new build. If it doesn't work, your bug is a new issue (on my computer, every game was running at 20~30fps, before this bug I had 60fps everywhere, and now it's back to normal).

That will more then likely work! How do I install Wine 1.5.9? I know this sounds nooby, I used to know how, but now I have forgotten.
