The Sims 3 wont start

I'm trying to run The Sims 3 using playonlinux since it installed on wine but didn't open and im getting the same result with this program. In the debug window it says

Does anyone know what the issue is?

Hi,

playonlinux isn't supported here, so you should ask on the pol website, but the error messages indicate missing mp3 libraries and some issue with your graphics card, which seems to be unknown to wine, maybe you need to install proprietary drivers.

did you try to install libmpg123? If you don't know how to do that, ask in a linux forum.

I installed mpg123 through my distributions package manager but i'm still getting that error. could libmpg123 be located somewhere else?

I just ran ldconfig and rebooted and still getting the same error

Hi,

are you running a 64-bit linux? Then you probably need to install 32bit versions of some libs including mp3.

I looked at arch linuxs wine wiki page and it said some games require a better graphics driver and gave me a package to install for intel chips which i did, and now the The SIms 3 started up using playonlinux but one problem, all the text is blocked out. Is there just some sort of font package i need to install?

you should make sure, that the intel-lib-dri version is recent. You probably need to issue a command like
> export LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH=/usr/lib32/xorg/modules/dri
in a terminal and then (in the same terminal) run
> wine yourapp.exe

Alternatively it should be possible to put everything in one line
> LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH=/usr/lib32/xorg/modules/dri wine yourapp.exe
Not sure about the correct syntax.

If you look at the appdb page for Sims3, ist seems to be quite complicated to get it working in wine, maybe it would be better to use Playonlinux, it has some kind of config option for Sims 3, which you of course should use, see http://www.playonlinux.com/repository/a ... script=414 .

I am using playonlinux and iv'e managed to get into the game with a created sim but when i try to look at my house there's a graphical glitch that sounds allot like .http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25516
