Program crashes upon clicking in Finder

Having issues with a windowed game I am running through steam (FFXI). I formerly had no issues whatsoever, but have since made a number of changes in the configuration and wine tricks menu for other games which have apparently caused this new issue to arise. Everything works perfectly fine, as long as I don't click in the finder or do anything outside of the X11 mainframe. Upon clicking in the finder or on any other program on my mac (including inside of X11), a "Program Error" window pops up with the text "The program pol.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience". Is this symptomatic of something obvious?

Why is it that every time I type in the words "the finder" it gets censored?

the words ".t.h.e. f.i.n.d.e.r" minus the periods. The hell?

Apparently "The Finder" was in a lot of spam at some point and wound up on the censored words list. I've removed it, so it should show up now.

Is there a window that shows the crash log in order to help pinpoint the issue?

have you tried running it in a virtual desktop in Wine with the game set to fullscreen?
