I run PortableApps Thunderbird under Wine on my openSuSE12.1 system and recently it has started crashing on startup. The folks on the PortableApps forum think this is a problem with Wine and suggested I contact someone who knows more about Wine than they do. I started Thunderbird manually with wine and got the feedback shown below. Anyone want to decipher this for me and help me get my poor Thunderbird back up and flying? Thanks in advance, Marc... -

Re: PortableApps Thunderbird is crashing under Wine.
I have been encountering this problem for months: in fact, this discourages me from using Ubuntu, because I manage my e-mails with Thunderbird Portable, installed in my USB key.
Has anyone solved it? This will be magnificent; please if you have informations, write here!

Wine version? If it's not the latest development release, upgrade. If it doesn't work in the latest development release, post terminal output.

ten days to reply, but with a good news. You were right, I only had to upgrade Wine to 1.6-rc4 version. I tested and worked with ThunderbirdPortable abundantly enough to say that it fully works so far.

Thank you!
