Recent sound problem

My system is Kubuntu 11.10.

With wine 1.3.37 I had no problems. But after the recent upgrades, when I start a wine application, it blocks sound, that is, Linux-based programs have no sound when wine uses audio.

I installed wine 1.3.37 again to get rid of the problem but it persists. Does anyone know what is going on?

If reverting to the older version of Wine doesn't fix it, then the problem must be due to some other change on your system. Were any of the "recent upgrades" related to audio?

I forgot to delete the ~/.wine folder when I reverted to the older version of Wine. Deleting it got things back to normal.
