Hi, I've posted this question over on the porting team forum, but so far no one has been able to help, and I'm hoping that some people with lots of experience with wine might know more. I'm trying to play Morrowind GOTY on my 2011 MacBook Air (Intel HD 3000, 4gb ram) using the Wine wrapper by HiPhish. I've managed to install it and everything seems to be working fine except for a strange and very annoying graphical glitch. Everything seems to look fine (I haven't explored very extensively yet, only to Balmora and surrounds) except for two things: Firstly, the bodies of all characters, including NPCs and my character, are mangled. The bodies look a little as if they are inside out. The heads and legs appear normal but the torsos are partly invisible and partly rendered in randomly shaped planes of flat colour (no texture). Secondly, the hanging sign/decoration type things found on some houses in Balmora and elsewhere appear normal, geometry-wise, but have no texture. I'm guessing that this has something to do with my graphics card, but I have no idea what, or if there is anything I can do. The effect is so jarring that it makes the game pretty unplayable since it really kills the immersion.
Any ideas?
Need help with Morrowind graphical glitch
Re: Need help with Morrowind graphical glitch
Third party wrappers are not supported here; this forum is for plain Wine only.Arche wrote: I'm trying to play Morrowind GOTY on my 2011 MacBook Air (Intel HD 3000, 4gb ram) using the Wine wrapper by HiPhish.
Sorry if I've misunderstood, but as far as I can see other people are asking questions about running particular PC games through Wine, which is what I'm asking. My reason for posting here is that I am wondering if perhaps the graphical glitch I am experiencing is a generic Wine issue in relation to my particular graphic card, and not specific to the wrapper. If anybody thinks this may be a general wine issue, and can help me resolve it, I'd appreciate it.

With that information people will be better able to help. Be sure to
include in that post what Wine version you used and any other system
info that may be relevant.
To get the information needed to determine this you need to install justif perhaps the graphical glitch I am experiencing is a generic Wine issue in relation to my particular graphic card,
and not specific to the wrapper.

The way to find that out is to test plain Wine on your system.Arche wrote:My reason for posting here is that I am wondering if perhaps the graphical glitch I am experiencing is a generic Wine issue in relation to my particular graphic card, and not specific to the wrapper.
I can tell you that Intel graphics are generally inadequate for Wine, but that's based on Linux.

Intel video cards, used under Linux, are generally inadequate to run
Wine due to video driver issues. Unfortunately, you are using an
'Air' and the video system is not replaceable.
You might want to try using the XQuartz X11 product vice Apple's X11.
This fixes many problems and provides additional functions that were
not included with Leopard/Snow Leopard/Lion.

No, you are not. You are asking if a script supplied by a thirdSorry if I've misunderstood, but as far as I can see other people are asking questions about running particular PC

You will have to install Wine using MacPorts and then run the program. My reason for posting here is that I am wondering if perhaps the graphical glitch I am experiencing is a generic
