When will Wine use Direct3D directly?

Post by s3a »

According to http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=a ... 3d11&num=1, Direct3D 10 and 11 are supported in Linux natively. Is this only with the open source drivers? Anyone have an approximation as to when Direct3D Windows games will use this instead of having the added overhead of translating to OpenGL?

Any input would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Since they still don't have anything working with that more than a few texturing Demos.. I think you need to wait longer until it actually works decent enough that Wine could attempt to use it.

I'm sorry I know nothing about that topic, but over the years it seems
to me that things reported on phoronix often have a little to do with
reality. It might help to do a google search and see if any other source
says the same thing or has more information.
