Work On CODECS after version 1, please!

Post by ThreeDays »

I would love if the Wine team got codecs working. xvid and its dialogue would be great.

Cheers

What's wrong with it now? Also what's wrong with native Linux programs like VLC?

That said, Maarten Lankhorst is doing a lot of work to get
DirectShow filters for codecs working in Wine.
As a result of his work, I think, Media Player Classic
(a good plain-old-directshow media player)
works much better than it did a few months
ago. He's trying to get schroedinger working with it now.

I'm more interested in getting xmpeg encoder working, and maybe virtualdub. Hypercam is another I'd like to use with direct use of xvid.

I use Kdenlive for some movie encoding but it has some shortfalls.
