Help with wine in Ubuntu?

i just installed on my netbook rinning Ubuntu but when i try o run an exe pile it says it isnt an exe file and it wont open for me PLEASE HELP

Did you right-click it and say "open with WINE program launcher"?
Or try in terminal "wine [path to executable, just drag file into terminal to get the path]".
