Continent of the ninth - c9 - by hangame

Post by Caddish »

Hey there,

first off, English is not my native language, i would be glad if you could forgive me the mistakes i may do.

Ive been trying to get "Continent of the ninth" running on my Ubuntu 10.04 system. Ive already searched the web for solutions but it seems to me that no Linux user plays this game.
Installing the game was no problem, but it just wont start/update.
Back then i used windows, i had to install an small program from the web site. Now it seem that I'm offered to do so via the Launcher but theres no reaction after i click the cube for the plugin download.
The biggest problem may be that the game as well as the website is in Korean. Most of the error messages are "???????".

I don't expect anyone to swing a magic stick and solve all my problems,
but if anyone dose play this game and know how to update and play it I would be glad if this someone could help me out.

greetings
Caddish

Running C9 in Ubuntu

Post by EDREAMER »

Hello Caddish,

While it is probably possible to get C9, the game, to work in Ubuntu with the proper config for WINE, the issue you are running into is with GameGuard.

GameGuard is the games security layer, that many games have been using to protect from hacking and other security issues. At this time I do not believe that any game running GameGuard can run in WINE because gameguard has no workaround as of right now. There may be some more experienced users that have figured out hacks or a workaround for the GameGuard software, or certain configuration with WINE combined with specific install procedures (i.e. Native install on Windows that has been copied to your WINE directory) that work.

In short, I don't believe there are any reliable solutions to games that use GameGuard at present.

Hope someone is able to point you in a direction that helps if they have a solution that has been tested.

Good luck,
