I am trying it right now that is if the wife does not ask for help in
the yard. With that said you can do exactly what I am going to do if
you wanted to speed up the process. I mean install each dependent
application properly in wine in the terminal and get debug log if the
install fails at any point. Do that from a clean prefix and use the
latest wine 1.3.X. Then start a new thread posting the debug log on
pastebin.com for each individual application (msde ... ) that fails to
install.

I do not seem to be able to download "Accpac Advantage Series" from a
legal source (must be legal for me to work with it) for free or at
least the cnet links do not work at the moment.

But YOU do not have the right to redistribute. If you do, then you are
a pirate. The key is to get the originator of APPAC to allow Wine to
examine why you experience the problems and difficulties you
experience. Without that, you are basically 'on your own' to try and
troubleshoot/fix the problem. That is 'not good' and some software
vendors will go out of their way to insure that you HAVE to use Windows
to use their programs. So do NOT post their software for us to
download, we cannot and will not.

Mr. John should be able to get and install the program. I'm going to take that into account and that you are going to send him your data files. I do hope that Mr. John finds a solution to your problem as his time, as is mine, is limited.

Mr. John should be able to get and install the program. I'm going to take that into account and that you are going to send him your data files. I do hope that Mr. John finds a solution to your problem as his time, as is mine, is limited.

I did not get the file but I really do not want it. If there was a
trial version available on an official site I would look at that but I
do not want to get involved in violating licenses and posting that on
a public forum.

I was looking for correct wording for this.

joven15: We still need to know what happens when you attempt to access a file from withing the APPAC application that ends in .rts. Does the program unexpectedly terminate? Does it generate an error message? Does it do nothing and not respond to your request?

Neither Mr. John nor I want APPAC software. We will contact the company and ask for either a trial or demonstration version. We may need to get your files, and if owned by a company a release statement that we can use them for testing purposes only. We cannot use executable files provided by you, unless you are the publisher. Sorry, but that is a rule that was made a long time ago to keep this project out of legal trouble.

There is no point uploading a file which can't (i.e. is not allowed to
be) shared,
by license. Rather provide a link to a trial version, if any.

I have asked the sales folks for SAGE ACCPAC if there is a demo/trial
version that I could have access to for troubleshooting assistance.

I can not help even if I get paid for that if it means I have to break

Same for me. I have not heard back from the SAGE ACCPAC people either.

I would LOVE to see a reply to my request as well as Mr. John's from
them. Then we might be able assist. Cannot take anything that will not
stand the test of law. Here, your comment would not suffice, I'm sorry
to say (and I work with a lawyer on other items, he is not a specialist
in copyright law, but collision law.)
