Alright, so everything seems to be going smoothly. I did have a few things.. We did get the gecko error at first, and aborted it, then went on just fine.. though where you say " Abort and you can see now the Search/Scan-Button from which you actually can choose now the TERA-Setup.exe. Let it, hopefully, be installed" it just opened a view of some folders, couldn't find the tera setup there.. So I figured you were talking about the old Tera-Setup-HC.exe file that we originally downloaded from the tera site.. Ran that, and we got the usual installer that we're used to seeing. Clicked next through the steps, THIS time it told us we had to download adobe first, so I clicked okay, it went through that, seemed to be okay, then the screen went white. I don't know if maybe this has something to do with Adobe? Maybe because it's not running, I can't see the progress of the install? Either way, I'm not touching anything on it just yet, I'll let it run in the background. Lemme know what ya think. Oh, also when it was done installing the adobe or what not, it gave me the gecko error again.. I cancelled the error and that's when I got this white screen.

Hey there once more,

Ok. I've forgot to add the part with the 'Components' in the guide:
Now you can see the WINEPREFIX (Tera_Rising or whatever you've named it) under the PlayOnMac Configurations. Close the 'Configuration' window and select 'Install' with the Add-Icon which will open you an Installation-Menu
Before closing 'Configurations', we need additional components which can be installed under tab 'Installing components'. As I mentioned at the beginning of the 'guide', I've been orienting myself at the entry from the AppDatabase (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p ... &iId=25812). So I've installed the one mentioned there (d3dx9, ie6, msls31, pngfilt, xact, input, xmllite)
Once they are downloaded and installed, switch to the tab 'Wine' and choose the option 'Restart Windows'. Close the 'Configuration' window and install the Tera-Setup.exe mentioned in the steps from the 'guide'.

At the installing internet explorer 6, and I keep getting repeated errors on how regsvr32.exe has encountered a serious problem and needs to close.. I keep closing it, and it advances in the install...

Alright, I still continued with all the steps I was able to.. Though, every time I 'installed' one of the above mentioned items you listed, the new screen would usually just disappear.. I was assuming this meant it was installed. I ran the tera-setup-hc.exe in my downloads folder, using the above mentioned steps, and I got further than usual.. . This time, I could see the Tera Rising window, the actual images on it.. and I got a new error, Microsoft Internet Explorer: Cannot connect to Happy Cloud client. If you opened this program using "Run As Administrator", please close the program and run it again normally. If this program continues, please contact tech support at www.thehappycloud.com/bugreport.

Also, when I clicked "Windows reboot" under Wine on Tera_rising, it gave me a 'please wait' window, then just disappeared.. Assuming these are step completions? Or is something going wrong? I'd expect a confirmation.. =/

What games are you trying to install? Does it happen for all games? Do the games have appdb entries (see http://appdb.winehq.org/ )?
Hey Rico, you were on here earlier, and it seems we've come to a dead end... Got anything that you think might help??

Yeah, everytime I go to install Tera now, it turns the download screen white, and tells me it's got a Gecko error: Wine could not find a gecko package. etc etc.

K... So checked my 'manage wine versions' under tools for PoM, and it said I had like 4 versions installed.. So I uninstalled them all, installed the latest version, then ran the install again, it reinstalled tera with the 7.5.5 or w/e it was, then the game started up, i saw the load screen again, the actual images.. Then it said POL_wine had an issue.

roshiie PlayonMac and PlayonLinux are not supported here. Mostly because they do things that take a program that is platinum rated and turn it into garbage rated at times. How by installing extras those applications don't need.

That doesn't really help my situation. I mean, thank you for the information, I have no problem working without them.. But I still need help WITH wine, getting my games running. Any advice?

Hi roshiie,

I'm giving up wanting to get TERA running. Couldn't achieve it from source with the applied patch neither… Consuming too much time

The most recent AppDB test report for TERA Online rates it garbage. The test report immediately prior to that, which rates it gold, explicitly says that no patches were applied. It does mention a lot of native dlls that were installed, and it is not clear from this thread which ones you have installed. The one thing I can see is that you have not successfully installed ie6, because you would not be getting the gecko prompt if you had.

My suggestion is you start fresh with the current development release of plain Wine (no patches, no third party wrappers), and a clean wineprefix. You do need to install wine-gecko and wine-mono, or your install is considered broken. The downloaders are unreliable, so I suggest you install them manually before attempting to install anything else.

http://wiki.winehq.org/Gecko
http://wiki.winehq.org/Mono

My other suggestion is that you try installing something that works out of the box before attempting to install a game that needs so many overrides and (according to most reports) still won't work.

Thx dimesio. I think it's a reasonable decision trying to install another working game since overriding or adding components seems to be more of a lucky try getting a game started than it really gets an issue fixed.
SWOTR is according to the AppDB (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.p ... &iId=27088) Gold rated. I've runned the Setup without problems and could start the launcher as well testing it in a new WINEPREFIX.
To set up in a new wine prefix, I would recommend to create a new folder (for example: wine swotr)
Then type in Terminal:
wineprefix=DRAGNDROP_THE_FOLDER_INTO_TERMINAL* wine DRAGNDROP_SWOTR-SETUP_INTO_TERMIAL*
(*by Drag'n'drop, one can make sure that the path to folder or files are right)

Thank you so much all for the replies, and thanks again Maexel for all the previous help. =) So, before I reinstall all of this stuff, what's the cleanest way to have all the old versions removed? I don't want any conflictions.. Are there specific folders I can locate and just delete? Any particular uninstalls to run, or commands in the terminal I can type? Wanna get this done once and for all, and make sure there's full communication from me to you. =) Thanks!

Hi roshiie,

You're welcome :D . PlayOnMac is removed first by deleting the Program itself (drag it into bin) and the wine prefixes and the other downloaded components are all stored under:
Library (Finder --> 'Go to' holding 'alt' Button) --> Folder 'PlayOnMac'
Throw into the bin as well and clear.
The homebrew wine is found under Macintosh HD --> /usr/local. Think about what you want to keep  .
With the compiled wine over MacPorts you could still install the gaming platform Steam (to run Window games, there is a Mac Version as well, obviously for Mac games).
MacPort compiles to Macintosh HD --> opt/local
Let me know if you're interested in installing Steam.

After that the windows program installer opens, I can click continue once and than have to click on Agree, at this point the button gets stuck and nothing else seemes to happen. After a whole while somthing is happening, but I am not sure thtat its installing...
Thanks in advance!
