Wine, Ubuntu and Wave Lab

Post by Ant33 »

Hello every body,

I've installed successfully the software WaveLab 6.1 thanks to Wine on my computer running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.
But when I launch the software I get this error message :
Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0x00000028 in 32-bit code (0x7df8f1dc).

Your Wine version is old; upgrade to the latest development release, and reinstall to a clean 32 bit wineprefix. http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#32_bit_wineprefix

Thanks a lot!!! It was much more easy than what I thought!
I've updated my Wine to the 1.7 version and now WaveLab works perfectly...except playing sound.
Indeed, on Ubuntu I have no problem playing sounds with VLC or Spotify but with WaveLab running on Wine it doesn't work. It just makes an awful buzz.
What should I do ? Is there any sound plugin with Wine ?
Thanks again :)

hello, sorry for my late reply.
That's what I get when I run WaveLab with the terminal.

There's nothing in there related to sound. Were you trying to play sound? You need to.

I don't understand the question.
When I launch WaveLab with Wine in order to edit sound and music. The software plays sounds and music with an awful buzz.
It makes this awful buzz when the sound and music is played with the Wine Sound Mapper and also with Pulse audio...

Was the software playing the "awful buzz" at the time the console output you posted was produced? If it wasn't, you need to post console output that is produced while you are trying to play sound.

Also, does the sound test in winecfg work?

I am not using the software with the console. I don't know how to do that.
I am using it the normal way and when I open and then play an audio recorder, It plays it but it is not music... It is an awful buzz..

With winecfg, the sound test works perfectly.

I've just launched the software with the terminal, that's the best I can do with the console. Then, I don't know how to use the software with the console.
