Hi , I've been trying to play AoE III on ubuntu 14.04 , had many roadblocks , but got it to run but I got it to run according to this guide(I tired PlayOnLinux too , didnt work for me)

the game runs properly , till I get the error l3codecx.ax missing .
I tried all the things in the guide , but the terminal doesnt register the codec here's the log.

please help me to get this running, I alongwith my two friend want to play this game both of them are also stuck on that step only( the reason we are not using the linux version is that we have even more players on the windows version).

I just tested winetricks l3codecx and it works fine here in 1.7.40.

Make sure you have the latest Wine and winetricks and retest in a clean, 32 bit wineprefix.

I'm sorry , but i'm a total noob regarding ubuntu , what to you mean by 32 bit prefix?
I tried to install it again after "delete ALL DATA AND APPLICATIONS INSIDE THIS WINEPREFIX"
and now it's going around in circles
what i m doing now is "install a windows Dll or component" -> l3codecx.ax ->Install a windows Dll or component ....
earlier it downloded directx and then aborted after getting some error which i dont recall (maybe 255 , idk).
please if you give me a step by step guide ,i'll be eternally grateful.
