Unable install SQL compact, .NET framework and RJ Capture

Hi all,

I need to install a software called RJ Capture who already worked on a previous linux install (ubuntu).
I can launch notepad perfectly.
When I install RJ Capture software, wine says everything went ok but can't launch/show it running.

I read that I needed SQL server compact on my linux to make it work, who resuests .NET Framework.
On installing them, look at the errors I get: I don't understand the problems :s

You'll probably need to install .net with winetricks, see here. Start over by deleting .wine or create a fresh wineprefix. I'm assuming you'll want to run 'sh winetricks dotnet35sp1'. If that goes well install SQL and then RJ Capture. I think.

Also it is infinitely more useful to run wine from a terminal, for future reference: How can I get a debugging log (a.k.a. terminal output)?

It opened me then a page: http://www.oldversion.com/windows/net-framework-3-0

OK, I realised that the install also opened me a window: /personal folder/.cache/winetricks/ with folders:
- dotnet30 (empty folder)
- dotnet30sp1
- dotnet35
- dotnet35sp1 (I launched dotnetfx35.exe with wine from this folder and it said "setup error")

Then I realised the following message in my terminal:
Please download netframework3.exe from http://www.oldversion.com/download-.Net ... k-3.0.html, place it in /home/jby/.cache/winetricks/dotnet30, then re-run this script.

So I downloaded the file, and ran it with wine after having put it into the "dotnet30" who was initially empty, but system detected a news version on my laptop.
I tried to install it but have been told that a newer version was already installed, so:

wine uninstaller
And I uninstalled ".net framework 2.0 and 3.0"

I tried to reinstall but error: a newer version exists... BUT I'VE DELETED IT!!!

I tried to reinstall v3.5 of .net, and on error during install, now I have tons of popups of error ;-)

-> Reboot



Can anyone help me?

Yeah, afaik .net only works on 32-bit currently. Poke around the faq a bit, specifically here for creating a 32-bit wineprefix.

You can't change the architecture of an existing wineprefix. If there's nothing in ~/.wine that you want to keep you can delete that and recreate it as 32 bit. Otherwise, create a separate 32 bit wineprefix.

I'm ok to "recreate it as 32 bit".
So, I delete all the content, and then?

Delete the whole ~/.wine folder, and then recreate it with the same command you used before. It failed the first time because you were trying to do it to an existing wineprefix.

Something new: it created a "prefix32", a "drive_c" and a "dosdevices" folder in my /home/jby

So I re launched the install of my .exe, it gave no error message and put shortcuts on my desktop.
So.. how to launch the app now as a double click launches nothing nor finding the app through my list of software...

By the way, I see the application installed in my /home/jby/.wine

According to the console output you posted, Wine correctly recreated ~/.wine as a 32 bit wineprefix. That folder should contain a "drive_c" and a "dosdevices" folder. I don't know where you got the "prefix32" folder from; possibly you created it yourself in an earlier attempt to create a 32 bit wineprefix.
By the way, I see the application installed in my /home/jby/.wine

Install whatever version of .NET this app requires. You might also need to install windowscodecs.

Still not working...

Should I reinstall the whole Ubuntu or who wants to earn a 5$ beer with paypal through skype/teamviewer?
