Overview:
I am attempting to run a windows game using Wine on Mageia. The game starts fine, but the game window is black, no imagery/video. Audio works. The FAQ I used for setting up the game & wine on Linux didn't cover this issue, but did note it's /supposed/ to work fine, so theoretically it's a problem on my part, and not compatibility.
Details:
Fresh install of 1.6.1 Wine
Game (series) is Touhou, tried multiple games from the series to the same result.
FAQ mentioned is; http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Running_i ... d_Mac_OS_X
When running $wine X.exe --debug, the following fills up my command line: http://pastebin.com/8ybiRfcx
That's a lot of lines/duplicate lines, not even sure where to begin to understand what's going on, and what I should be searching to locate solutions.
Black screen when attempting to run games
Re: Black screen when attempting to run games
Your Wine version is old. Try upgrading to the latest development release.
Re: Black screen when attempting to run games
I have now tried using Wine 1.6.2 on Ubuntu and am still having the same problem.dimesio wrote:Your Wine version is old. Try upgrading to the latest development release.
Re: Black screen when attempting to run games
The latest development release is 1.7.37.
Re: Black screen when attempting to run games
I am now on the latest dev release, and am getting an error window when starting the program, the window title is DirectX-Error, and the contents are all gibberish besides a mention of D3D at the beginning.
This is what appears in my terminal when running the program from there;

Urmmm no it's not... Post somewhere else that doesn't suck and don't use an anonymous account. Trim the output if it's really long. Duplicate lines are duplicate lines...seburoh wrote:This is what appears in my terminal when running the program from there;

What graphics card do you have and what (Linux) driver version are you using? Make sure this is up-to-date and that you have the 32-bit libraries installed for your Mesa and GPU drivers (you didn't mention if you are running a 64-bit Linux distro - I'm presuming you are).
If you'd actually read through that FAQ (a very good, clear and well written FAQ I should add) you'd see it explicitly lists bugs closed as recently as Wine 1.7.36...!! So why were you attempting to run it on an earlier release of Wine and actually posting those results here?!!
