Removing 'Copy' shortcut key from Edit menu

Post by themadafrican »

Hi folks,

I'm running a Windows program for linguistic research (http://www-01.sil.org/computing/toolbox/) on Mac via Wine and there is a small annoyance I'm trying to solve.

Basically, I want the 'Copy' command to be mapped to the same key combination as the Mac shortcut. The trouble is that it conflicts with the built-in Copy function on the Wine edit menu, and gets over-ridden. As a result, I have to use the Mac key combination 'Control' + 'C' instead, and it's annoying to constantly switch back and forth. The Wine built-in command sequence via the Edit menu doesn't work at all, for some reason.

Using 'Command' + 'C' was working fine in Crossover 10.1, but I recently upgraded my system to Lion, in which Crossover 10 does not work. So I switched to Wine and everything works fine except that the copy/paste is overridden. Annoying.

Is there a way to manually disable the menu shortcut in Wine so that there is no conflict?

I have tried resetting the X11 'winemac' driver via XQuartz, have played around with all the configuration settings, have changed the X11 settings within the wineskin wrapper, and tried remapping the Mac 'Command' key to 'control' as per this post: http://www.columbia.edu/~em36/winekeymap.html - all to no avail. In Xquartz input settings, I've selected the option to allow multiple mappings of shortcut keys. And I've tried all variations of the other settings, but no luck.

Do I need to try an earlier version of Wine that didn't have this shortcut built in?

Thanks for any help.

Wine doesn't have any built-in menu or shortcut that I know of.
If this is a wineskin feature you should ask on the wineskin forums/website.

Or, if you're speaking of the edit menu of the linguistic windows program itself, I don't think it can be overriden as it is part of the program and not Wine nor the OS.
