During the process of installing a certain application, the installation stops, asking for administrator privileges. Because of this, an update of files required won't perform and the setup is canceled.
What can i do about this? I use Kubuntu 14.04 and the latest version of WINE. The application "Taxman2015" won't run in a Win98 environment any longer, but in XP and higher, i get the anoying lack of Administrator privileges message.
It would be nice, if i can circumvent a full windows installation in a virtual machine if any possible.

Wine runs apps with Windows administrator privileges, so messages complaining about that are usually just generic error messages. Wine's console output may give a better indication of what's going on, but before you post that, exactly what Wine version are you using? The version in your distro's repository is not necessarily the latest: the current development release is 1.7.36. If you're not using that, upgrade and retest, and if the problem persists, post terminal output. http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log

Well, i only had 1.6 installed. I now upgraded to 1.7, but the problem persists. And as the updater of the setup removes files prior to the installation, i'm not able to generate a logfile, too.

I seriously doubt the updater is deleting everything in your home directory and wouldn't recommend installing anything that did that, but if that's really the case, you could still just copy Wine's output from the terminal to the clipboard and paste it into a post.tango2015 wrote: And as the updater of the setup removes files prior to the installation, i'm not able to generate a logfile, too.
