Wine in Elementary OS Freya (beta)

Post by EmyrB »

Hi, Just had to a reinstall of my elemntary freya setup due to a faulty hard disk. Went to install Wine from the ppa and I get the following

Code: Select all

The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required:
  dnsmasq-base gir1.2-gnomebluetooth-1.0 gnome-bluetooth gnome-power-manager
  gnome-user-share gucharmap indicator-bluetooth indicator-keyboard
  indicator-power iputils-arping libatkmm-1.6-1 libcairomm-1.0-1 libgee2
  libglibmm-2.4-1c2a libgucharmap-2-90-7 libllvm3.4 libmbim-glib0 libmm-glib0
  libmnl0 libnetfilter-conntrack3 libnl-route-3-200 libnm-glib-vpn1
  libopenvg1-mesa libpangomm-1.4-1 libqmi-glib0 libsigc++-2.0-0c2a libt1-5
  libtimezonemap1 libvala-0.24-0 libwayland-egl1-mesa
  mobile-broadband-provider-info modemmanager network-manager
  network-manager-gnome network-manager-pptp network-manager-pptp-gnome
  obexd-client pptp-linux usb-modeswitch usb-modeswitch-data
Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them.
Then I get a list of packages Wine will install, then at the end I get the following: -

Code: Select all

The following packages will be REMOVED:
  elementary-desktop xdg-user-dirs xdg-user-dirs-gtk
It doesn't matter if I try and install wine 1.7 or 1.6 (even if I try and install wine1.6 from the official Ubuntu repo's it wants to remove a host of core stuff.

Is this an elementary OS issue or a wine issue?

Cheers
