WoW gameplay keyboard not working in wine 1.7.29

Post by Phrost5019 »

I've installed the new World of Warcraft game, Warlords of Draenor, and I've been having gameplay issues. The keyboard will glitch almost immediately after logging in. The only thing it does is move either forward or turn to the right without any way of stopping it. I've reinstalled wine and Playonlinux, removed the .wine and .PlayOnLinux folders, reinstalled WoW, nothing is working. Is there anything to be done? I'ts not my keyboard, by the way. The glitch persists even after my keyboard has been unplugged, and my keyboard works fine outside of wine. Also the glitch persists on different keyboards.

Any fixes? Should I just wipe my hard disk and see if that fixes anything? Different wine version, maybe?

There's nothing mentioned in the bug report. You could try the latest development release of Wine, and while you're at it, reinstall to a clean wineprefix without PlayOnLinux (which is not supported here).

The bug looks a little like this: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30981

I've tried the stuff in there, namely setting keyboard repeat off an messing with the ibus settings as well as trying all the 1.7 wine versions (1.6 doesn't seem to work with WoW). I also wiped my hard disk and reinstalled ubuntu as well as getting a new wine prefix. Is there anything left but to move to a different distro or just use a windows dualboot?
