Call of Duty Advanced Warfare (Steam)

I recently bought this on the PC version of steam on my mac with this application, and it finally downloaded.

Apon pressing 'play' for the multiplayer version of the game, it said it was downloading 3 engines or something, and gave me an error on the first one, and I closed the error. It finished the rest, and said it 'failed to open the game (unknown error)'.

Packages that were 'downloading' in order from first to last

Microsoft VC Redlist Package (gave me an error I dismissed)
something that I couldn't read, for it transitioned to fast
DirectX 11

I believe I have the directX 1 DLL installed, but not the microsoft redlist.

How do I fix this issue?
