Strange network fire access problem

Hi. Just started seriously getting Wine to handle a couple of "critical" applications & I have hit a snag.

One of my apps is Lotus Organizer 6.1. I have been using it since it was the Threadz Organizer & I have a LOT of "stuff" on it so I would like to keep it as we migrate to Ubuntu, at least until I find a good replacement. Install went pretty smoothly & the software all seems to run nicely on local files. My main data file lives on a remote machine. Wine sees this drive fine & so does Organizer. But Organizer won't open the file. Conversly if I kill Organizer & then open the remote location .or6 file in winefile, clicking on the file opens Organizer, but not the .or6 data file. I can probably find a workround but frankly it would be ugly. Is there a neat way to sort this problem out ?
