Better CHM viewer

Post by vladan »

Hi,

I have trouble viewing help file.
Shipped CHM viewer, doesn't have sidebar with toc, index and search. It even renders text poorly, like look at this shot:

Left margin is wrong, text is cropped and it shows unintelligible content when it should supposedly help user find information.

I don't understand how can this thing be shipped with wine, and why is it so problematic to display compressed html?

Is there any alternative?

Wine version? If it's not the latest development release, upgrade. If the problem is present in 1.7.29 or later, file a bug.

Kchmviewer is an alternative.

It is wine-1.6.2 - latest that's officially available on latest Ubuntu.

As for alternative, I meant inside Wine, as I don't believe I can use context help from a Windows program under Wine with Linux CHM viewer.
For example the above screenshot was shown to me when I clicked on Help button in Total Commander dialog, as I wanted to see available placeholders for commands in context of that dialog.

I added wine ppa and upgraded to wine-1.7.28.
Everything is fine now.

Thanks
