Using wine to run Internet Explorer ?

Post by AlfonzKeisha96 »

I installed "Wine Windows Program Loader" from Software Center. After that, I cd'ed into ".wine/drive_c/Program Files/Internet Explorer" and ran "wine iexplorer.exe".

Yes, it could be launched, and I can go into the company's website. But after logging into it, it asks me to install some plugin (probably some adobe flash plugin).

But it provides no link for me to click and install the plugin.

What shall I do then?

You're really going to have to be more specific than "some plugin." If it is Flash, the Windows version can be installed in Wine but you will have to download the full installer from Adobe and run it yourself. However, if it is Flash, why don't you just use a native Linux browser?

You can try installing IE 7 or 8 in Wine with winetricks, but those are pretty buggy, and not supported here because of the large number of native dlls needed to get them to work.
