So I created a blank app wrapper using the latest version of Wineskin Winery with Wine installed, then inserted my Midtown Madness 2 CD into my Mac running 10.9.5 Mavericks. The setup.exe installed the game itself just fine, and then to get around the nonexistent CD-ROM drive problem, I downloaded a no-CD exe from 2002 and had Wine run that. But then when I tested it the screen became very pixelated, followed by this problem:
MCI Error: There is an undetectable problem in loading the specified driver.
Help?! From what I know of MCI, I think it's supposed to be what allows the game to use RedBook CD Audio, as well as video and the steering wheel peripheral. Obviously PaultheTall has been able to port Age of Empires 2 to Mac using the wrapper method and so there HAS to be a way to get around this issue, or locate where the "specified driver" should go or what I should install or what have you.
Can't install Midtown Madness 2
Re: Can't install Midtown Madness 2
Wineskin is not supported here, nor are cracked executables.
