I see from previous posts that Wine does not yet support installing a USB printer driver and using it from CUPS. Is there any plan or timetable that this will be coming, or is it not intended?
My query relates to a Lexmark x5650 printer/scanner/copier. Although there is a Lexmark Linux driver package for this, it dates from 2010 and has a bug whereby a file fails to parse during install because dpkg doesn't like a description with a blank line in it, and the install promptly rolls back. I have been unable to get any reply to a support query on the Ubuntu forums as to the possibility of fixing the package, or extracting the PPD file for use. I was wondering if I could use the printer via a driver installed in Wine. Apparently not at the moment, so is there any intent for the future?

Re: USB printer via Wine
AFAIK, there is no plan to support installing Windows printer drivers in Wine.

Shucks ... Pity.
Right ... time to dismantle a package the hard way!
