I've successfully installed the game (Football Manager 2014) via wine.
However, when trying to open FM14.exe I receive the unhandled exception errors.
I'm using opensuse and I've tried running the game via PlayOnLinux as well (installed directx9 via this tool).
Now, I read here http://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/1103 that I should run a stress command, however that doesn't seem to be working (the command is not being recognized in the terminal).
PlayOnLinux is not supported here. Outside howtos aren't supported here either, and the one you followed is for FM 2012, not 2014.
You didn't mention what Wine version you're using. If it's not the latest development release, upgrade, and reinstall to a clean wineprefix. If the problem persists, post terminal output. http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#get_log
