I'm running Wine 1.6.2 on Mint 17 Cinnamon. I've finished installation of Diablo II and the expansion, but when I try to run it it crashes to the Mint login screen and closes all my applications. The same thing happened before installing the expansion.
I've got Wine set to Windows XP, but I've also tried 7, 2000, and 98. The Windows 98 version didn't crash, but wouldn't recognize the CD. I've used Winetricks to get the dxd3 drivers as well as the quartz, vcrun, wininet, and xact drivers. I'm pretty new to linux, but I've tried every suggestion I could find online. I even tried copying the installed files from a Windows machine.
The video test crashes to the login screen when it starts testing ddraw, if that helps.
Any help is much appreciated!
Diablo II crashes to login screen
Re: Diablo II crashes to login screen
If you're thrown back to the login screen, that means X11 crashed. Wine is a user level process and should not be able to crash X11, but it can expose bugs in the underlying system that can. You didn't mention what graphics card or driver you're using, but if you're using an open source driver, try the proprietary one (if one exists for your card).Atreides wrote:I'm running Wine 1.6.2 on Mint 17 Cinnamon. You, sir, are wonderful. It worked like a charm after updating my video driver; somehow I hadn't thought to do so myself. Thank you!
