Hello folks,
I'm on a learning curve here, so please have patience. Would appreciate your opinion.
After installing Wine and playing Pharaoh, my mac (mavericks) crashed.
I rebooted, it started with the grey apple logo screen, bar loading, then crashed again.
Tried to re-install OS - hard drive locked.
Ran Disk Verify - hard drive damaged, could not be repaired.
Ran disk repair through Terminal - fixed it. Phew!
(Using this guy's help, Chris Watts1, genius!: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4313082)
I'm not sure what caused the problem, but given the circumstances of the first crash, I'm wondering if it's related to running Windows programs? Could I have coded something incorrectly?
I would hesitate to run programs through Wine again until I can pinpoint the cause.
My mac is young and healthy, though from experience I know that disk damage can happen easily!
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Re: Hard Drive Damage - Wine/Game related?
hi i would reccomend making ither an off site back up of your os or running a raid or equilivent as it only take a very slight mistake even if its not yours and the whole lots gone as for your wine issues it sounds like a bad package to me try unistalling and reinstall through the command line and verify you have all the nessasery .dll's and software packages for your game to run failing that i can only suggest its ither a badly designd piece of coding or hardware issues hope this helps
